WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. - Babson's Andrea Marguerite's brace was enough to hand the Williams College Ephs their first loss of the season on Williamson Field.
The Ephs found themselves down less than two minutes into the contest. Babson's Jessica Evans found Andrea Marguerite in the area and applied early pressure on the Ephs. SInce then, the contest became tight with both teams having to attack and defend.Â
At the 17:00 mark, Babson were awarded a penalty corner, resulting in Marguerite's second goal of the day, giving the Beavers a 2-0 lead.Â
The Ephs got up and running in the third quarter with a goal from sophomore Kiki Higgins at the 35:30 mark to cut the Beavers' lead in half.Â
Despite creating more chances in the second half, the Ephs were unable to find an equalizer and suffered their first loss of the season.
"Credit to Babson who really capitalized in the circle and their opportunities in the first half," stated Eph head coach Alix Barrale after the game. "We had to dig ourselves out of a hole. I thought our second half resembled more of the type of team that we are. We outshot them, we had some great opportunities. Babson's goalie had 7 nice saves. We need to improve our decision making and get used to playing with each other having such a young team. We learn from this game and use it as momentum moving forward."
On the day, the Ephs fired 14 shots with 8 on goal. The Beavers shot 11 with 5 on goal.Â
Up next for the Ephs are the Smith College Pioneers. The contest is set to take place Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 7 pm on Williamson Field. Â
