Ephs Down Connecticut College 4-1 on Senior Day

WILLIAMSTOWN, MAThe Williams College Ephs (13-1, 9-0 NESCAC) continued their winning streak in the NESCAC with a 4-1 victory over Connecticut College (6-8, 3-6 NESCAC) this Saturday, marking an impressive performance on their Senior Day. The Ephs controlled the game from start to finish, out shooting the Camels 24-2 showcasing their dominance.

Connecticut goalie Liz Winemaster had an outstanding performance, making 13 saves, while Williams goalie Ellie Smith recorded only 1 save because of the team's strong defense which gave the Camels a hard time to break through. Williams earned 9 penalty corners throughout the match, vs. Connecticut's 3.

From the start of the match, Williams quickly took control of the field. At 1:59, Anna Miller's shot was saved by Connecticut goalie Liz Winemaster, and just a few minutes later at 6:28, Meaghan Boehm saw another attempt blocked by Winemaster as well. Despite Williams' early pressure, the first quarter ended 0-0.

The first Eph goal came at 18:34 of the second quarter, when Anna Miller scored off an assist by Meaghan Boehm following a penalty corner by Linda Bibeau. Just two minutes later, at 20:40, Bibeau herself found the back of the net with her second goal of the season, putting the Ephs up 2-0. The relentless pressure continued, and after a penalty corner earned by Linda Bibeau, at 24:50, Kiki Higgins extended the lead to 3-0, scoring her seventh goal of the season off another assist by Bibeau. The half ended with Williams leading 3-0.

Williams remained hungry for more in the third quarter, consistently applying pressure. Despite numerous attempts from the Ephs, including shots from Higgins, Chloe Bush, and Bibeau, Liz Winemaster stood tall, making save after save. Winemaster's outstanding performance kept the Camels in the game, though they struggled to create offensive opportunities of their own. The third quarter ended with no additional goals, maintaining the 3-0 lead for Williams.

The final quarter saw Williams seal the win with a fourth goal, as Meaghan Boehm scored her sixth goal of the season at 49:09. Although Connecticut managed to respond with a goal of their own at 54:29, when Sadie Gearan scored off a penalty corner assisted by Serena Moore, it was too little too late. Williams closed out the game strong, earning a well-deserved 4-1 victory.

"Great day celebrating our seniors! We played well and executed on our corners. Proud of our team" said head coach Barrale.

The Ephs will look to carry this momentum into their next and final NESCAC match against Middlebury College this Tuesday at 6:30 PM at Middlebury.
