Ephs on Fire: Williams Defeats Smith College 7-0

NORTHAMPTON, MA - The Williams College Ephs (4-0) delivered a commanding performance against Smith College (1-3) this Wednesday, securing a 7-0 victory and maintaining their undefeated streak this season. The Ephs dominated both offensively and defensively, out shooting Smith 26-1 and thriving in converting multiple penalty corners into goals.
The Ephs wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard, scoring three goals within the first 14 minutes of the game. At 5:06, Meaghan Boehm opened the scoring with a goal, assisted by Kiki Higgins and Anna Miller. Just 30 seconds later, Williams earned a penalty corner and Pilar Torres converted it into a goal, assisted again by Higgins. At 13:36, another penalty corner led to Torres netting her second goal of the quarter, with Higgins providing her third assist, securing a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Williams maintained their momentum in the second quarter, securing three more goals. At 18:43, Laura Ryan scored the team's fourth goal, followed by goals from Linda Bibeau at 23:28 and Madeline Rowland at 25:05, extending Williams' lead to 6-0 by halftime.

In the third quarter, the Ephs added one more goal at 35:39, when McKenna Dwyer found the back of the net, bringing the score to 7-0.

No goals were scored in the final quarter, Williams' defense remained strong, preventing any significant offensive threat from Smith. Smith was unable to register a shot on goal in the contest. From the start of the match, the Ephs' aggressive offense and strong defense never gave Smith a chance to recover.

Eph head coach Alix Barrale said, "We executed our game plan well. We hustled to every ball and capitalized on our penalty corners. Everyone contributed to this big win."
With this victory, Williams remains undefeated and will look to continue their hot start versus arch rival Amherst this Saturday at 11 AM on Williamson Field.
