WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- This Wednesday, the Williams Men's Squash Team defeated rival Amherst 8-1. The #12 Ephs cruised to victory over the #16 ranked Mammoths in front of a solid home crowd. Eph head coach
Hesham Aly said, "It's always going to be interesting playing against Amherst, but the team did a good job of controlling their nerves and getting a point for the team."
The Ephs swept the first round of matches, with co-captain Andrew Minnis and Junior John Nicholson winning in a commanding three games. Asher Leavy was able to regroup after winning the first two games and then dropping the next two, to win in five.
Rafay Syed, despite taking the first game, went down to his opponent in four. Jack Lee won convincingly 3-0. Alex Akbari followed suit with a confident dismantling of his opponent in three games.
In the final round of matches, Nick Agger won in a tight four games. First-year Will Newton won easily in three. Fellow first-year Ty Green had a back and forth match with a tall opponent, but was able to refocus to win 3-2.
The Ephs travel to take on MIT today.
