NFHCA Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After compiling four goals and one assist during a 2-0 NESCAC week for the No. 16-ranked Williams College field hockey team, senior captainÂ
Kiki Higgins was named National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Offensive Player of the Week Wednesday morning.
"Kiki has been absolutely ferocious on offense, relentless, fearless and impossible to contain," said head coachÂ
Alix Barrale. "She is a menace in the critical scoring area and has an uncanny ability to rise in big moments. No one is more deserving of this recognition."
Higgins scored twice, while also tallying the winning goal in a 3-2 shootout decision, for the Ephs (8-7, 6-4 NESCAC) during a 4-3 victory at then-No. 7-ranked Hamilton on Oct. 22 in Clinton, New York. The Weston, Massachusetts, native found the back of the net twice and added an assist during a 7-1 triumph at Connecticut College Saturday afternoon in New London, Connecticut.
Higgins, who was also named NESCAC Player of the Week Monday, has recorded at least one point in 10-of-15 games and four multi-goal efforts this season, as she ranks second in the NESCAC in goals (12) and points (28). On Sept. 17, she recorded her first collegiate hat trick during a 6-0 victory over Smith at Williamson Field.
Fifth-seeded Williams will compete against fourth-seeded and No. 7 Wesleyan (12-3, 7-3 NESCAC) during the NESCAC Quarterfinals Saturday at noon in Middletown, Connecticut.
