CLINTON, N.Y. - The #14 Ephs competed against Hamilton and Middlebury this afternoon in a tri-meet, beating both teams 192-96 and 209-88 respectively. This competition was the Eph's last dual meet of the season before heading into the Middlebury Invite (1/30/26 - 1/31/26) and NESCACs.
The Eph men started the meet off strong with a win in the 200 medley relay over Hamilton College by 0.01 seconds. The team of
Whitman Horton,
Michael Grover,
Harrison Williams and
Theo Randall got the job done early for the Ephs.
Michael Ma won the 1000 freestyle by just over half a second to Hamilton. He nearly missed a sub 10 minute performance, still posting an impressive 10:00.04. Ma has been a reliable distance swimmer for the Ephs this dual meet season. Teammate
Theo Randall took gold right after Ma in the 200 freestyle. Randall posted a 1:44.21, and was followed closely by Nye Hanan in 2nd place (1:44.80).
In the 50s, Horton placed 4th in the 50 backstroke followed by
Aidan Lee in the 5th.
Michael Grover touched 1st in the 50 breaststroke with a 26.45. The 50 freestyle was captured by
Samuel Brozek in a 21.47.
Mason Green touched right behind Brozek in a 21.66. Green later won the 50 butterfly with a 23.38. Green is a known sprint specialist for the Ephs and was able to get the job done with some strong performances today.
Colin Kavanagh and
Harrison Williams placed 1st and 2nd in the 100 butterfly in a 51.97 and a 52.31 respectively. In the 100 freestyle,
Samuel Brozek claimed his second victory on the day. Brozek touched in a 47.03, followed by
Kai Batchelor in a 47.87 and
Theo Randall in a 47.92.
On the boards,
Calder Biondi took 1st on 1 meter with a score of 276.80. Biondi was joined by teammate
Benham Cobb who competed in his first diving competition today. On the 3 meter board, Junior
Haochen Liu won with a score of 286.40. Biondi was just behind with a score of 282.05.
Horton took 3rd in the 100 backstroke with a 52.93. Just after, Grover won the 100 breaststroke in 58.41.
Aneirin Hanan and Ma went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle posting a 4:46.78 and a 4:49.38 respectively.
Kavanagh took first again in the 100 IM, with
Harrison Williams right behind, repeating the 100 butterfly finish. Kavanagh posted a 53.50 and Williams a 53.67.
Aidan Lee was just behind in 54.04.
The 200 freestyle relay was the last event of the meet and the Eph men placed 2nd to Middlebury. The team of
Samuel Brozek,
Theo Randall,
Mason Green and
Kai Batchelor raced hard but didn't quite have enough to touch first.
The Eph men look to turn the page on the season towards Championship competitions. They will travel to Middlebury for the Middlebury Invitational next weekend, and then look ahead to NESCACs.
