AMHERST, Mass. - The #12 Williams College men's squash team dropped a tough 5-4 result at #16 Amherst College on Wednesday night in NESCAC action. Close matches were played throughout the lineup but the Mammoths were able to come out just ahead of the Ephs, with a potential rematch at the NESCAC Championship looming in two weeks.
Four of the nine scoring matches went to the maximum five games, with each team earning two wins. The Ephs won in five at #3, with
Asher Leavy winning 11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 6-11, 4-11, and at #6, where
Leighton Calhoun won a 11-9, 5-11, 19-17, 9-11, 10-12 battle that lasted nearly 90 minutes. #2

Rafay Syed came up just shy of wins in their epics.
The other Ephs earning victories were
Ty Green at #7, winning 3-1 (11-5, 11-13, 5-11, 7-11), and
Dylan Scott winning 3-0 at #8 (7-11, 5-11, 6-11).
Williams has little time to rest, with another important match coming up this Saturday, when the team visits #11 ranked Tufts University in a match that will have implications for both NESCAC and CSA Championship seeding.
