Men’s squash falls 8-1 to #11 Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. - The Williams College men's squash team suffered an 8-1 loss at the hands of Tufts University on Saturday afternoon, with first-year Leighton Calhoun earning the sole victory for the Ephs.

The match was closer than it looked, with two of the Williams losses going the full five games, and another two going to four games. Himanshu Pannu at #2 and Will Newton at #5 each lost in five, and Asher Leavy at #2 and Rafay Syed at #9 each took a game off their opponents.

Calhoun took the victory in a back-and-forth affair, taking 1-0 and 2-1 leads before finally finishing off his competitor in the fifth. The game scores were 11-8, 10-12, 11-9, 6-11, 11-7.

The Ephs will be off until Wednesday, February 11, when the team travels to face Dartmouth College. Williams then travels to Hamilton on the weekend of February 14-15 for the NESCAC Championships.
