Ephs Compete at Two Meets

Willams takes home first place at the Keene State Invitational

NORTHFIELD, MINN. — The Williams College men's cross country team competed in two races this weekend, highlighted by a first-place finish at the Keene State Red Championship following a strong showing at the Running of the Cows at Carleton College, a Pre-Nationals meet. 

At the Running of the Cows, the Ephs finished 11th overall against a competitive field. Malcolm Oakes led Williams with a 13th place finish in 24:48.2, followed by Eli Welch in 38th at 25:13.1. Henry Alexander crossed the finish line 65th in 25:24.7, while Finn Miller placed 69th in 25:28.0. TJ Zwall rounded out the Williams scoring five in 110th with a time of 25:48.1.

At the Keene State Red Championship, the Ephs had a dominant performance, earning the team victory with 55 points. Williams finished just ahead of MIT, which recorded 58 points, while Bowdoin finished third with 91 points.

Keiyu Mamiya paced the Ephs with a fifth-place finish in 25:03.0, followed closely by Liam O'Connor in sixth at 25:11.5 and Avery Allen in seventh at 25:14.8. 

Emil Nelson finished 18th in 25:39.0, while Jackson McFerron rounded out the Williams scoring five in 19th at 25:40.7. The Ephs placed five runners inside the top 19 to secure the team title.

Williams returns to action next weekend at the James Earley Invitational, with two more weekends of competition remaining before the championship season begins on October 31 with the NESCAC Championships.
