Williams Cross Country Set for 2026 NESCAC Championships

10/30/2026 10:43:00 AM

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The No. 4 Williams women's and No. 14 men's cross country teams will take to the course at Middlebury College tomorrow with NESCAC titles on the line. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men's race at noon.

For the Williams women, the stakes are particularly high. The Ephs are seeking their seventh consecutive NESCAC championship and 23rd overall, while the Williams men will also race for their 23rd overall NESCAC title.
The No. 4 ranked Williams women enter the championship having put together another dominant season, winning six of their first seven team-scored races and finishing second in their lone race outside the top spot.

The Ephs opened the season with victories at the Little Three Championship and Aldrich Invitational before continuing their winning ways at the Purple Valley Classic, KSC Invitational and Running of the Cows. Williams added another team title at the James Earley Invitational before closing the regular season with a pair of strong performances at Connecticut College, finishing second in the Blue Race and first in the White Race.

"This group will be the strongest, deepest lineup we've put together so far in 2026, so it will be exciting to see what we can do. We have been doing great work in practice, and that gives us some confidence, which is important because there are some very strong teams in the NESCAC this year. These women love to compete, and they are really ready to go," said head coach Dusty Lopez.

The No. 14 Williams men enter the championship with four team victories and a pair of runner-up finishes on their season.

After placing second at the Little Three Championship, the Ephs claimed consecutive team titles at the Aldrich Invitational and Purple Valley Classic. Williams followed with another victory at the KSC Invitational before rebounding from an 11th-place finish at the Running of the Cows with a dominant team performance at the James Earley Invitational.

"The men are excited to compete and their goal is to regain the conference title. After finishing second last season, this group has worked hard, come together with good spirit, and shown great depth. We will face some really talented teams so nothing will be easy, but we are looking forward to this opportunity," said Lopez.

For the first time in conference history, the NESCAC Cross Country Championships will be webcasted for free via the NESCAC NETWORK powered by the Northeast Sports Network (NSN). Watch live here or follow along with live results.
