WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Junior Eli Welch of the Williams College men's cross country team finished third overall during the NESCAC Championship Saturday and senior Claire Colvin recorded one goal and assisted on the game-winner for the No. 6-ranked and fourth-seeded field hockey team during a 2-0 win over No. 8 and fifth-seeded Hamilton in the NESCAC Quarterfinals Saturday, as the two individuals were named Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Ephs of the Week for the first time Tuesday afternoon.

During the 11th minute, Colvin inserted a penalty corner for the Ephs (11-5, 6-4 NESCAC) directly onto the stick of Hannah Herlihy, as the first-year defender buried the game-winning tally. With 4:36 left on the scoreboard in the third quarter, Colvin played a corner from the left attacking side. Herlihy's shot was blocked, and then senior Keira Harder fired a shot on target that was denied. Colvin went aggressively to the net and scored off the second-chance opportunity, giving the hosts a 2-0 advantage in the 41st minute.

The Ephs compete against No. 1 and top-seeded Tufts during the NESCAC Semifinals Saturday at 11 a.m. in Medford, Massachusetts.

Welch led men's cross country team to a runner-up finish at the NESCAC Championships this past weekend at Middlebury. Welch was the Ephs' top-performer with a third-place finish in the 8 kilometer, crossing the finish line in a time of 24:47.7.

The Ephs compete at the NCAA Division III Regional on Saturday, Nov. 14, in Manchester, Connecticut.
