CLINTON, N.Y. - The Williams College men's squash team lost to Tufts in a NESCAC semifinal matchup at Hamilton College on Sunday morning in a matchup between two closely-ranked teams.
The #11 Jumbos were able to hold off #13 Williams by a 6-3 score, as the Ephs contended with some injuries that kept players out of the ladder.Â
Alex Akbari at #3 and Dylan Scott at #6 both won by 3-0 scores, Akbari taking an 11-7, 11-9, 11-6 win in 56 minutes, and Scott winning 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 in just 33 minutes. Will Newton earned a 3-1 win at #4 (12-10, 7-11, 11-7, 11-2). Nick Agger at #1, Leighton Calhoun at #5, Anden Boulan at #7, and Leonard Lee at #9 all took a game off their opponents in 3-1 losses.
The Ephs will return to action at home on Friday evening, facing off against #12 MIT in a match that could decide if the team makes the top flight of the College Squash Association championships, which will be held at the end of February or beginning of March, depending on which flight the Ephs are placed in.
