Women’s squash closes season at #14 after loss to Columbia in Kurtz Cup final

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - A day after an epic victory over Middlebury College, the Williams College women's squash team could not find the upset magic again and closed the season with a 9-0 loss to Columbia University in the final of the Kurtz Cup of the College Squash Association's Divisional Team Championships on Sunday morning in Philadelphia.

Despite the result, many of the individual matches were close, with Melanie Wang at #3 and Frances Brooks at #3 each playing five game thrillers, while Rhea Pandit at #1, Roshni Pal at #5, Sophia Koehler at #6, and Anika Kakarla at #7 each winning a game in 3-1 losses.

The match was the final one of the season for the Ephs, whose victory against Middlebury on Saturday gave the team the opportunity to play for the Kurtz Cup and ensured a final ranking of #14 even with the loss on Sunday to Columbia.

The Ephs have two seniors on this year's squad: co-captain Roshni Pal and Giselle Ciriaco, who each made big contributions to the team over their careers, and have three times helped the team to a 14th ranking in the nation over their four years on the team.
