WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Mike Disner '07, Director of Football Administration, Arizona Cardinals will present the 27th annual Frank Deford Award May 11 in Griffin 3 at 7:00 p.m. The Deford Award ceremony is free and open to the public.
The Frank Deford Award is presented annually by Eph Sports Information to the top student Sports Information assistant(s) and is presented in conjunction with the Aaron Pinsky '06 Student Broadcasting Award. The Deford and Pinsky awards are the only awards of their kind in all of intercollegiate sports. Read more about the history of the Deford and Pinsky awards.
At Williams Disner pitched for the Ephs, worked in Eph Sports Information as a basketball announcer on webcasts, and majored in economics.
Disner worked for the New England Patriots for two summers while at Williams and then full-time for the Patriots as a scouting assistant for two and a half years after graduation. From the Patriots, Disner joined the NFL Management Council in New York where he was involved in negotiations that created the current Collective Bargaining Agreement and a salary cap resolution, before moving to the Arizona Cardinals in February of 2013 to serve as the Cardinals' Director of Football Administration.
In 2014, Forbes.com named Disner to their list of 30 Under 30 in Sports honoring the top athletes and sports executives from around the world. Named along with Disner were such standout athletes as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Lionel Messi, and Maria Sharapova.
After the presentation of the Deford & Pinsky awards Disner will speak and then take questions from the audience.
The title of Disner's talk is "Williams Athletics – The Real Sports Management Degree."
