TUCSON, AZ. -- The Williams College baseball team dropped its fifth straigt contest Friday, dropping a 12-9 decision to Buena Vista at te Kino Sports Complex.
The Ephs (1-5) will face Bethel (Minn.) at 10 a.m. MST tomorrow and then Colby at 1:30 p.m. MST.
Friday the Ephs fell into a 6-0 hole, but rallied with five runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 7-7 only to allow five runs over the final two innings and fall 12-9.
The comeback began with two runs in the fifth. Jack Roberts and Doug Schaffer drew walks to lead off the inning. Jack Roberts stole third and Schaffer second and Roberts scored aon a throwing error. Jack Cloud then singled Schaffer home to make it 6-2.
Down by five entering the bottom of the seventh, Roberts led off with a double and took third on a passed ball. With one out, Adam Dulsky's grounder scored Roberts to make it 7-3. Cloud followed with a doubled and he scored on Alex Panstares' RBI-single.
After a wild pitch moved Panstares to second, Nathan Michalski walked and both scored when David Rosas crushed a two-run double. Adam Regensburg then tied the game with another clutch hit, this one a double.
Down 12-8 entering the bottom of the ninth, Roberts singled home a run to make it 12-9 and the Ephs loaded the bases with one out and down three, but two strikeouts ended the contest.
Williams had 13 hits in the loss. Roberts was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Rosas and Cloud were each 2 for 4 with two RBI. Kellen Hatheway was 2 for 4 and Panstares 2 for 5.
Jack Bohen got the start and tossed two scoreless innings before coming out. He allowed a hit and struck out two. Alex Beschloss, the seventh Eph pitcher of the game, took the loss, allowing five runs over two innings.
