WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Williams College junior Tyler Duff (Orenfield, PA) has added two national awards after being selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for play ending Sunday, May 1.
Duff was one hit away from achieving a perfect game against Hamilton on Saturday. In a must-win situation, Duff allowed a lead-off single in the first, then retired 21 straight batters to finish with a one-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory on Saturday. He did not walk or hit a batter, and struck out six Continentals, while leveling his record at 2-2 and lowering his ERA to 3.70.
Both D3Baseball.com and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Duff their National Pitcher of the Week.
Over his last 21 innings pitched, Duff has allowed only 13 hits and two walks while striking out 13. He is 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA in that span. In total, he has pitched 48 2/3 innings this season.
