THOUSAND OAKS, CA — The Williams College baseball team colelcted 13 hits Monday but dropped its seventh straight contest, an 11-4 decision to Cal Lutheran.
Williams (1-7) is off Tuesday. The Ephs are at LaVerne Wednesday for a 6 p.m. EST contest.
The Ephs trailed 1-0 after three innings but scored twice in the top of the fourth to take the lead. Doug Schaffer led off with a single up the middle and Adam Dulsky followed with a walk. After an out, David Kawn drilled an RBI-single to right field. Erik Pappas followed with a single down the right-field line that scored Dulsky for a 2-1 Williams lead.
Trailing 4-2 entering the sixth, the Ephs rallied for two runs to tie the game 4-4. Alex Panstares and Kwan drew back-to-back walks to open the frame. Pappas then delivered another RBI-single to make it 4-3. A wild pitch scored Kwan with the tying run.
However, the Kingsmen rallied for a single run in the seventh to re-take the lead and then exploded for six runs in the bottom of the eighth to account for the 11-4 score.
George Carroll got the start for the Ephs and went the first five innings, allowing six hits and four runs, only one earned, while walking three. Bryan Woolley took the loss, going the next 2 1/3 innings and allowing six hits and five runs, all earned, while walking two and striking out one.
