HADLEY, MA — Williams College sophomore outfielder/pitcher Mike Stamas (Northborough, MA) was selected Second Team All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) by the conference's baseball coaches, it was announced today.
Stamas led the Ephs' regulars with a .321 batting average, topping the team in hits (36) and stolen bases (9) during the 2018 campaign. he was one of three Ephs (Kellen Hatheway, Adam Regensburg) to appear in all 30 games for Williams this season. His .389 on-base percentage was second among regulars, as was his 19 runs scored. Stamas also appeared in seven games as a pitcher for the Ephs, starting two games. In 15 2/3 innings, he allowed 15 hits while walking 18 and striking out 11.
Stamas was also an excellent fielder, whether in the outfield or on the mound for Williams. In 67 total chances, he made 58 putouts with 8 assists and only one error, a .985 fielding percentage.
"Mike did a great job as our lead-off hitter this year," Ephs' head coach Bill Barrale said. "He was outstanding in the outfield, and we needed him on the mound as well and he gave us two quality starts. He was fun to watch all year!'
