HADLEY, MA — Williams College senior shortstop Kellen Hatheway (Armonk, N.Y.) has been chosen as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week for play ending Sunday, May 5th.
Hatheway batted .400 for the Ephs with a .500 on-base percentage, and a .733 slugging percentage. He knocked out two doubles and a home run while walking three times, driving in two runs, and scoring four runs. His two-out, two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning in the final game of the series versus Wesleyan delivered the Ephs the NESCAC West Division title, the program's first since 2010. He also had 25 chances at shortstop over four games, with 10 putouts and 14 assists while turning three double plays.
Hatheway is batting .407 for the Ephs this season, with a .478 on-base percentage and a .704 slugging percentage. He has 9 doubles, 3 triples and 3 home runs to go with 14 RBI and 20 runs scored. Playing the majority of time at shortstop, Hatheway has made only 2 errors over 66 chances (22 putouts, 42 assists) this season.
Williams is the top seed out of the West Division for the upcoming NESCAC Tournament. Colby College will host the three-day, double-elimination championship. The tournament gets underway on Friday, May 10 and runs through Sunday, May 12. The Ephs will face Bates in the first game, slated for 2:30 p.m. Friday.
