BOSTON, Mass.—The College and University Division rosters have been set for Friday's 45th Annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Joe Walsh All-Star Game.
Williams College senior Doug Schaffer (New Haven, Conn.), set to graduate Sunday, will represent the Ephs in the contest.
The head coaches of the College Division which consists of the top Division II and III players in New England are Scott Loiseau of Southern New Hampshire University and Travis Beausoleau of Mitchell College. The head coaches of the University Division team which consists of the top Division I players in New England are Greg Decenzo of Holy Cross, Raphael Cerrato of the University of Rhode Island, and Tucker Frawley of Yale University.
The 2019 NEIBA Joe Walsh All-Star Game is set for 12 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at Dunkin Stadium in Hartford, Conn.
The Marucci Home Run Derby will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature Josh Goulet of Division III Plymouth State University, Rosaria Missiti of Division II Post University, and Gaby Cruz of Division I Bryant University. Andy Baylock of the NEIBA Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will serve as the Home Run Derby pitcher.
Schaffer led NESCAC in batting with a .412 average and drove in 47 runs in 34 games. He was named the NESCAC Player of the Year for his efforts. His 47 RBI this spring exceeded his total RBI in his first three years. His on base percentage this season was .425 and he registered a slugging percentage of .595. Of Schaffer's 54 hits this year 18 went for extra bases: 12 doubles and six triples.He posted a career batting average of .331 and totaled 25 doubles, 10 triples and belted one home run, while driving in 85 runs.
