1:00 PM

Saturday, October 29, 2011

Weston Field

Williamstown, MA

SERIES:  Began in 1900.  Williams holds a commanding 38-7 edge.  The Ephs have beaten Hamilton in 14 straight contests dating back to 1997.

Last season the Ephs won 38-7 over Hamilton in Clinton, NY as senior QB Pat Moffitt hit on 19 of 28 passes for 266 yards and 3 TDs.

Hamilton's 16-13 defeat of Williams in Clinton, NY in the 1996 campaign marks the last time the Continentals have succeeded against the Ephmen.

COACHES:  Aaron Kelton (11-2) is in his second year at the helm of the Ephs. Kelton was the first Eph head football coach to debut with a perfect season (8-0-0) in 2010, when he led the Ephs to the Little Three and NESCAC titles, while earning NESCAC Coach of the Year honors.

Kelton is the first African American head football coach at Williams and in NESCAC.

Kelton is 1-0 vs. Hamilton.

Steve Stetson (20-48-1) is in the sixth year of his second stint as head coach of Hamilton. During his first tenure from 1982 to 1984 the team went 9-14-1, but they went 6-1-1 in the '84 season, the program's first winning record since 1967. That campaign merited him the Div. III Coach of the Year award in New England, as well as a head coaching position at Boston University's Div. I-AA program the following year.

After three seasons at BU, Stetson left for Hartwick College, where he resurrected a football program that had been dormant for 42 years. From 1991-2001, he lead the Hawks to eight winning seasons and earned three conference championships. Stetson made one last stop in his native state of New Hampshire to join the University of New Hampshire program as an assistant coach for four seasons, before returning to Clinton in 2006.

Stetson is 1-5 overall in his head coaching career against the Ephs.

LAST WEEK: The Ephs got a school record-setting punt return of 77 yards from Darren Hartwell to break open a 14-14 game and prevailed over Tufts 38-17.

The Continentals lost to Colby at home 13-7 despite QB Jordan Eck connecting on 26 of 46 passes for 266 yards.
