Eight Williams' football players have earned 2011 All-NESCAC First and Second Team honors. Darren Hartwell '13, Chris Cameron '13, Dylan Schultz '12, and Dan O'Mara '12 were given First Team accolades, while Pete Christiani '13, Steve Denza '12, Dan Canina '12, and Colin Curzi '12 are Second Team.

Wide receiver Hartwell received two awards exhibiting his strong influence on the Ephs' scoring game this season. He was named First Team Offense for wide receiver and First Team Specialist for his time as a return specialist. Hartwell has broken one NESCAC and four school records in 2011. His 77-yard punt return against Tufts on October 22 was the longest punt return and the longest punt return for a touchdown in Williams' history. On top of this, he achieved the highest career punt return yard average with 11.4 yards per carry and the highest career kick return yard average with 21.7 yards per carry.

Hartwell tied the NESCAC record for most punt return yards in a season, finishing at 321 yards. With the completion of the season, Hartwell concluded 2011 with a conference-leading 1,370 all-purpose yards, 673 receiving yards on 50 catches, and 354 kick return yards. He is second in the conference in reception yards per game at 84.1 and fourth in receptions per game at 6.25.

Linebacker Schultz is the team leader in total tackles with 70. He tallied 45 solo tackles and 25 assisted in 2011. Schultz has broken two school records as he registered the most solo tackles in 2010 with 48 and the most career solo tackles with 130. Schultz finished the season notching three sacks (loss of 26 yards), four pass break-ups, one forced fumble, and 7.5 tackles for a loss (35 yards). He is seventh in the NESCAC for most tackles.

Defensive back O'Mara recorded a NESCAC-leading five interceptions this season returning those for 135 yards. He also had 54 tackles (42 solo, 12 assist), three pass break-ups, one forced fumble, one recovered fumble, and 1.5 tackles for loss (6 yards).

Linebacker Cameron is the final Eph of three to be given First Team Defense honors. This is the first time Cameron has been awarded since his NESCAC Rookie of the Year in 2009. He totaled 50 tackles on 33 solo and 17 assisted. Cameron also had three sacks (loss of 26 yards), two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and 8.5 tackles for a loss (45 yards).

Hartwell, Schultz, and O'Mara were given All-NESCAC First Team honors in 2010 as well.

Offensive linemen Chiristiani and Denza were named to Second Team Offense as they supported the most efficient passing team in the conference. Williams is also second in total offense and in pass offense.

Defensive linemen Canina and Curzi wrap up the Ephs as they are awarded Second Team Defense. Canina was a top-five defensive player for Williams this season. He is fourth in NESCAC and first on the team with five sacks (26 yards lost) and also has a team-leading nine tackles for a loss (39 yards). Canina has recorded 43 total tackles (26 solo, 17 assisted) and one fumble recovery.

Curzi has 34 tackles in 2001 with 18 solo and 16 assisted, along with two tackles for a loss (11 yards), one sack (9-yard loss), one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. He is one of a handful of Ephs to start all 32 games over his four-year career, also lettering in wrestling while at Williams.

Curzi and Canina were a part of the 2010 All-NESCAC Defensive First Team.

With five defensive Ephs honored for All-NESCAC in 2011, the team broke a school record for fewest rushing yards allowed in a single game, -30 yards against Hamilton on October 29.

The Ephs finished their season with an overall record of 5-3 and placing third in the NESCAC behind Amherst (8-0) and Trinity (7-1).
