Dear Former Williams Football Captain,
On behalf of my counterpart at Amherst College, you are invited to take part in a pre-game ceremony at the last Williams/Amherst game to be played on Pratt Field as currently configured - see details below. Amherst will begin a field renovation project shortly; I'm excited to announce that Williams will be undergoing a similar project just formally announced last week. Link to message from President Adam Falk, including a rendering of the new complex HERE.
Hope we'll see you at Homecoming on Saturday, November 3 in Williamstown and on Pratt Field the following Saturday.
With best wishes from Williamstown,
Lisa M. Melendy
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10
Former Amherst and Williams Football Captains Invited to Take Part in Pre-Game Coin Toss
All former Amherst and Williams football team captains are encouraged to join the current team captains for the pre-game coin toss.
Preparation for the coin toss:
Former Amherst captains will assemble at Ostendarp Rock (at the east end of the home grandstands) at 11:40 a.m. and will proceed onto the field at 11:50 a.m.
Former Williams captains will assemble at the east end of the visitor grandstands at 11:40 a.m. and will proceed onto the field passing in front of the Williams bench at 11:50 a.m.
Logistics of the actual coin toss assembly:
There will be an organizer assigned to both the Amherst and Williams groups of former captains. Those organizers will each lead a line of former captains from the appointed meeting spot to the opposite end zone in front of their respective benches. The respective lines will hold their places until the 2012 captains approach the center of the field for the coin toss. At that time both lines will advance toward the mid-line of the field and await the toss. After the toss the lines of former captains will disperse as follows; Amherst will return to the east end zone (toward the Darp Rock) and Williams will exit out the west end zone (toward the scoreboard).
