HADLEY, MA – Williams college junior running back Alex Scyocurka (Longmeadow, MA) has been named Co-Offensive Player of the Week in NESCAC for his role in the Ephs' 19-7 win over Wesleyan.
Scyocurka shares the award with Middlebury junior QB McCallum Foote.
Scyocurka racked up 205 yards rushing on 29 carries Saturday. Highlighting his day was an electrifying 93-yard first quarter jaunt that opened the scoring in the contest. The 93-yard TD run by Scyocurka is a Williams Division III record for the longest TD run from scrimmage.
Scyocurka has been nagged by injuries all season and had but 91 yards on the ground entering the contest. He is now averaging 5.5 yards a carry.
Scyocurka's efforts moved the Eph record to 4-3 on the year assuring the program of extending its streak of non-losing seasons to 26 and extending its win streak over Wesleyan overall and on Weston Field to 13.
Next up for the Ephs is "The Biggest Little Game in America" Saturday at noon in Amherst versus the Lord Jeffs.
The 127th playing of the Williams vs. Amherst game, most played in Division III, will be carried Live on NESN and seen at more than 50 combined alumni gatherings at the nation's largest cities, London and in Japan.
