Ephs Tab Football Quad Captains for 2013 Season

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Williams College head football coach Aaron Kelton has announced that the 2013 Eph football team will have quad captains.

The quartet of seniors selected to lead the Ephs features two players on defense and two on offense. WR Richie Beaton Indianapolis, IN), DL Ernest Higginbotham (Wilmington, DE), DB Nathan Saffold (Chicago, IL) and RB Alex Scyocurka (Longmeadow, MA).

Beaton was the second leading receiver on the Eph team in 2012, hauling in 16 passes for 195 yards in eight games.

Higginbotham saw action in all eight games last fall and he notched 17 solo tackles and 14 assists, ranking sixth on the team. He also posted seven tackles for a loss, two sacks forced a fumble and blocked one kick.

In eight games Saffold registered 19 solo tackles and 9 assists, broke up three passes and blocked a kick.

Scyocurka, despite being limited to just four games in 2012, led the Ephs in rushing with 418 yards – 104.5 per game.

The 2013 Ephs will open the season with road games at Colby (9/22) and Trinity (9/29), before hosting Bates on October 6.
