WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Mark Raymond's Williams College Ephs are riding a four-game win streak into Saturday's contest versus the Bates Bobcats. This marks the second time in his four years at Williams that Raymond has fashioned a four-game win streak.
In the current win streak, the Ephs have scored 137 points, while holding their opponents to just 28 points.
Bates is off to an 0-5 start under second year head coach Malik Hall and the Bobcats have struggled offensively this fall. Bates' most productive outing on offense came in a 33-28 loss to Tufts, but they have only scored 25 points total in the other four contests
Last Saturday at home Trinity defeated Bates 51-0, leaving Bates averaging 10.6 points a game.
The Ephs are averaging 30.0 points a game, mostly from the production of the junior combo of quarterback Bobby Maimaron and wide receiver Frank Stola. This duo has teamed up for 12 touchdowns through the air thorugh five games and Stola leads NESCAC in scoring with 72 points. Stola now holds Eph records for TD catches in a season (12), career (27), most catches in a career (139) and most yards receiving 2,091.
The Ephs have also elevated their running game and boast three players averaging over six yards a rush. The Ephs have been utilizing sophomore Dan Vaughan, freshman Joel Nicholas, and Maimaron to great effect to move the ball on the ground.
Vaughan has rushed for 381 yards on 60 carries for an average of 6.3 yards per carry. Maimaron has gained 380 yards on 58 carries for an average of 6.6. Nicholas on 44 carries has gained 298 yards (6.8 yards per carry). Vaughan and Maimaron have scored two TDs, while Nicholas has 3 TDs.
The Eph defense is led by junior linebackers TJ Rothmann and Jarrett Wesner. Of his 39 tackles, TJ Rothmann has recorded 27 solos and 12 assists and Wesner has contributed 22 solos and 16 assists for 38 total tackles.
The Ephs are 12-3 all-time versus Bates in Williamstown.
