HADLEY, MA – A forward and a midfielder on Alix Barrale's 10-6 Williams College field hockey team that qualified for the NESCAC Tournament were named to the 2015 All-NESCAC Team.
Sophomore forward Alex Bennett (Rye, NY) and senior captain and defender Emma Grauberger (Chevy Chase, MD) earned Second Team All-NESCAC recognition. This season marks the second time since 2009 the Ephs have had two players honored in the same season.
Alex Bennett started all 16 games this fall for the Ephs and tallied four goals on the year and assisted on one for nine points. Emma Grauberger also started all 16 contests this season and was a consistently strong presence on defense for the Ephs.
"Alex has exceptional stick skills and incredible awareness on the field which makes her a dangerous offensive threat to any opponent," Ephs' head coach Alix Barrale said. "Alex was often face-guarded which did not hinder her from creating offensive opportunities for herself and her team mates around her. I consider her our playmaker. I am thrilled other NESCAC coaches recognized her abilities."
In her first two years at Williams Alex Bennett has played in 31 games, scored seven goals and assisted on four for 18 total points. Emma Grauberger played 61 games in her Eph career scoring one goal and notching two assists for four career points.
"Emma's signature block tackles and sharp ball handling coupled with her keen defensive instincts make her the backbone of our defense," Barrale said. "Emma was charged with guarding our opponents most dangerous attackers and always rose to the occasion. She was fearless yet always poised under pressure. She had 4 defensive saves this fall when the game(s) were on the line. An excellent leader on and off the field she will be sorely missed!"
