CHANDLER, AZ – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced today that two members of Alix Barrale's 2015 Williams team have earned All-New England West Region honors.
Sophomore forward Alex Bennett (Rye, NY) earned First Team recognition, while senior captain and midfielder Emma Grauberger (Chevy Chase, MD) was named to the Second Team.
Earlier this fall both Bennett and Grauberger were named to the All-NESCAC Second Team. Both Bennett and Grauberger started all 16 games this fall for the Ephs.
Bennett scored four goals and assisted on one for nine points and Gruaberger was a central figure in the Ephs' defensive scheme this year and the previous three seasons.
"What a great honor for Alex and Emma to be selected to the New England West teams," said Barrale. "Emma has been a stalwart defender for our program for four years and to be recognized as one of the top defenders in New England is quite an accomplishment. More importantly Emma is an outstanding leader who consistently put "team" first in her approach to field hockey." Grauberger appeared in 61 games in her Williams career, netting one goal and assisting on two for four career points.
"Alex has just begun her offensive career," Barrale noted. "She has what it takes to be one of the top players in the nation. I am confident she will continue to distinguish herself in future endeavors. She is a selfless player who elevates those around her and is modest when it comes to acknowledging her ability."
Bennett in 31 games has scored seven goals and has assisted on four for 18 career points.
