WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- The Williams College Ephs (7-2, NESCAC 4-2) took down another NESCAC opponent today, topping Connecticut College (3-6, NESCAC 1-5) 3-1.

The Ephs started aggressively in the first half with 2 back-to-back shots on goal by senior Alex Bennett at 2:27 and 2:50, but Camel goalie Andri McGraw kept Bennett's fires away from the net with two great saves. Bennett and junior Libby Dolan made efforts again at 7:13 and 8:58, but couldn't find a way past McGraw

The ball moved in favor of the Camels for a moment with a good shot from sophomore Sophie Pollinger, but was tightly saved by Eph goalie Emma Santucci.

The battle for the first goal continued with four more shots, two from Bennett at 12:42 and 18:59, one from freshman Molly Lohss at 29:42 and the last from junior Meredith Wright at 31:59. Eph head coach Alix Barrale noticed the "high pressure defense" of Connecticut and stated, "It put pressure on us to make good passes and it took us a while to make it happen in the circle."

The first goal came for the Ephs at 32:03 on a hard shot from Bennett assisted by Wright. The last few minutes of play saw no shots from either team and the half ended with McGraw having 9 saves and Santucci with 1 save and the Ephs on top 1-0.

For the second half, sophomore Abby Lloyd took over in the Eph goalie box.The half started out quickly for Williams with a goal scored at 41:21 by Dolan off a 41:11 penalty corner. The shot was assisted by senior Hannah Goodrick and Bennett.

The Ephs looked to advance their lead with 2 hot shots by Bennett and Dolan at 46:19 and 52:04 but McGraw held them off. A hard shot from Bennett, assisted by Goodrick found the back of the net at 53:37 and set the Ephs up with a 3-0 lead.

At the 60-minute mark, the Camel offense hit Lloyd with 4 tough shots that she battled off those, but a nice ball from Conn's Cheyanne Asplundh found the net at 67:43 for a late goal for the Camels. With the time ticking down, neither offense found opportunity for shots and the game ended in a 3-1 victory with the Ephs.

Barrale praised her goalie noting, "Lloyd had an incredible second half with those great saves. This was our ninth game in three weeks, so I'm super proud of our ability to push through this game and get a solid win."

The Ephs next match-up will be against Skidmore at home at 6pm Tuesday evening.
