HADLEY, MA — Williams College junior forward Claire Fitzpatrick (Longmeadow, MA) has been chosen as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for play ending Sunday, September 22.
Fitzpatrick scored at least one goal in every game to lead Williams to a 3-0 week.Her biggest goal came at Trinity, where she notched a fourth-quarter, game-winning score that gave the Ephs 1-0 NESCAC win. She scored once in a 5-0 win over Smith, and added two goals in a 4-0 win over previously unbeaten St. John Fisher. Fitzpatrick leads the Ephs with four goals this season and also has two assists for a total of 10 points through five games.
"Claire's incredible speed coupled with her will to score make her extremely difficult to defend," Ephs' head coach Alix Barrale said. "Claire never tires! I am not exaggerating when I say she gives 100 percent every second whether it is in practice or a game. She is the epitome of competitive greatness.On top of that…she is humble. She couldn't care less if she gets the credit for goals or assists. She just wants the team to win."
