HADLEY, MA — Williams College senior Emma Ticknor (Madison, N.J.) has been selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week for play ending Sunday, September 29.
Ticknor scored six goals in three games, with at least one goal in each game, as Williams pushed its win streak to seven games with a 3-0 week that included conference wins over Amherst and Connecticut College. She scored the first two goals in a 6-0 win over Springfield, added a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win against the Mammoths, and notched a hat trick in a 5-1 victory versus the Camels.
She currently leads the conference with nine goals and 21 points. Ticknor was the second consecutive Eph to win NESCAC POTW honors, as junior Claire Fitzpatrick did so one week ago.
"Emma's versatility is incredible," Ephs' head coach Alix Barrale said. "She can play anywhere on the field and be effective. She has stepped into the role of scoring machine with the greatest of ease. She is an animal in front of the cage!"
Williams (7-1) is riding a seven-game win streak into a Tuesday night home match against conference rival Hamilton. Play begins at 6:30 p.m.
