Ephs ranked 8th in D3hoops.com national poll

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Mike Maker's third Williams College men's basketball team will open the 2010-11 season ranked 8th in the D3hoops.com national poll. Maker has directed the Ephs to consecutive outright Little Three titles, the 2010 NESCAC title and a second place finish in the NCAA Division III Tournament (2010), while compiling an overall record of 47-11 (.810).

The Ephs, who open preseason practice on Monday, return two starters in senior forward and captain Harlan Dodson and junior guard and captain James Wang. Wang is the team's leading returning scorer having netted 17.4 ppg last season. He has received preseason All-America honors this season.

Senior captain and forward, Troy Whittington, returns to lend a frontcourt presence on both ends of the floor. Last season in 18.3 minutes a game Whittington averaged 11.1 points he blocked 80 shots and changed at least as many more. Whittington was named to the NCAA Tournament All-Tournament team in 2010.

The Ephs will open the 2010-11 season at home on November 19 when they host Southern Vermont College at 8:00 p.m.
