WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Former Eph guard Phil Wall '07 is currently in the post-production phase of a documentary film on the legendary basketball coach Fletcher Arritt of Fork Union [VA] Military School. Out of this film project has sprung a popular radio show – The Passing Game -- hosted by Arritt out of Charlottesville, VA (WINA 1070 AM).
The Arritt film project has spawned a podcast/radio show hosted by the coach on the different styles and philosophies involved in the coaching of basketball. The Passing Game is also available as a podcast on iTunes and regularly receives 15,000+ downloads per month.
Arritt, who has won over 800 games, has been praised far and wide for his coaching talents, integrity and sideline demeanor.
Wall's entrance into filmmaking came from his involvement in film classes at Williams and resulted in his producing a documentary on teammate Casey Gibbons '06 during Gibbons' final season playing for the Ephs. "I did that in 2006 for an independent study with Professor Shawn Rosenheim," noted Wall. "Great experience."
The Fletcher Arritt documentary is nearing completion and when reached by phone recently Wall was in the process of returning to Virginia from meeting with key distribution folks in New York to work out the film's rollout process. The film will be distributed in 2011.
