Rupert Murdoch's brand new subscription news service for the iPad, The Daily, sent veteran sportswriter John Walters to cover the 204th meeting of Williams and Amherst in men's basketball in Chandler Gym on February 12th.

Walters, formerly of Sports Illustrated, NBC Sports, and Fanhouse was mighty impressed with the rivalry, the atmosphere, and level of play he found in Chandler Gym.

With the win the Ephs improved to 23-1 on the year/9-0 in NESCAC, securing first place and the top seed in the NESCAC Tournament. Third year Eph head coach Mike Maker is now 4-3 vs. Amherst and has won at least a share of the Little Three title in each of his three years; the first two years the Ephs won the title outright.

This marks Maker's second consecutive year of posting an unblemished NESCAC ledger. Williams now owns a 32 game home court win streak and holds a 116-88 lead in the all-time series with Amherst.
