HADLEY, MA — Williams College senior center Michael Mayer (Durham, NC) was selected as the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Basketball PLayer of the Week for play ending Sunday, Feb. 23.
Mayer equaled his career-high by scoring a game-high 30 points, including 19 second-half points, in an 87-77 overtime win against Tufts in the NESCAC Quarterfinals. Mayer shot 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the floor and 90 percent (9-of-10) from the foul line while also hitting a three-pointer in the win. In addition, he grabbed eight boards, dished out four assists and had two steals.
Mayer leads the 22-3 Ephs with 17.8 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per contest.
On Tuesday the Eastern College Atheltic Conference (ECAC) announced that Mayer and junior forward Joshua Ford from Mitchell College were named the ECAC's Co-Players of the Week in New England.
