WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – After a cold shooting first half by both teams the Ephs of Williams College were the first to warm up in the second half and they rode a 29-point night (18 in the second half) from Dan Aronowitz to an 80-64 win over visiting Union College. With the win Williams improves to 5-0 on the year and Union is now 1-4.

It was an Aronowitz three from the top of the key at the end of the first half that knotted the score at 32.

At the start of the second half the Ephs got out to a six-point lead, 38-32, with four points from Ed Flynn and two from Bobby Casey. Union would close the gap to five at 47-42 on a layup by Deshon Burgess at 13:12, but that was as close as the Dutchmen would come as Aronowitz heated up.

A three and a driving layup by Aronowitz at 8:48 gave Williams its first double digit lead, 58-48.

After shooting 39.4% from the floor in the first half the Ephs connected on 54.5% of their floor shots in the second half (18-33) and they improved their 4-13 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes to 8-11 in the second half.

Eph head coach Kevin App attributed the Eph second half surge to his team's depth. "I thought we wore them out in the second half," App stated. "Their starters played a lot of minutes and that showed in the second half. We had some foul trouble in the first half with Dan [Aronowitz] and Kyle [Scadlock] so some other guys had to come in and pick us up and they did."

Union was led by William Hython who scored 18 points and joining Hython in double figures was Deshon Burgess with 15. Union's Wade McNamara collected a game-high 13 rebounds.

Aronowitz's 29 points were highlighted by hitting on 5 of 8 from distance. Three Ephs joined Aronowitz in double figures with Ed Flynn (15), Bobby Casey (14) and 10 from Kyle Scadlock.

Guard Bobby Casey was the Ephs' top rebounder with eight.

Next up for Union is a road game on Dec. 190 at Ithaca, while the Ephs will return to action on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. when they host Wesleyan in a Little Three contest.
