WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—Junior swingman Daniel Aronowitz scored 14 points to lead the Williams Ephs (9-5) to a 79-52 victory over the Johnson State Badgers.
"You can learn a lot from every game, and we'll take both some good and bad from this game. I thought our bench was terrific tonight," said Williams head coach Kevin App.
The Williams bench contributed 32 points to the victory.
Johnson State jumped off to 10-5 lead behind 8 points from Badgers junior guard Benjamin Holl. Williams struggled to score in the early going, but slowly fought back to regain the lead with 10:08 remaining in the half. In the final minutes of the half, Ephs freshman guard Bobby Casey scored 8 points, including two three-pointers, to help Williams build a 38-27 halftime lead.
Casey led the Ephs at halftime with 11 points.
The Ephs had no trouble scoring in the second half, and quickly opened up a 50-32 lead, forcing Johnson State to call timeout with 14:56 remaining. The Badgers would get no closer than 13 the rest of the way, and the Ephs ran away with game. Coach App was able to empty his bench with five minutes to play.
"A lot of different guys contributed. We played defensively how we wanted to and stuck to our principles and fundamentals on that end. Especially in the second half I thought we really picked up our energy," said Coach App.
Freshmen forward Kyle Scadlock added 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists for Williams.
Badgers senior guard Rahim Bunch scored 15 points.
