Day 3 in Spain: Second and Last Practice Before First Game Tomorrow

Junior guard Chirs Galvin's report on the third day in Spain for Eph men's hoops.

Day three has consisted of a similar schedule to yesterday's events: practice this morning followed by an afternoon trip to the Botanical Gardens of Lloret de Mar and the military castle of Hostalric.

Our second practice since the end of the season maintained much of the same energy and enthusiasm that highlighted the first practice. Our sets looked cleaner, the team shot well, and the excitement for our first game tomorrow grew even more apparent. "It was apparent that our guys worked very hard over the summer. Even more encouraging was just how appreciative they were to be back on the court together. As we talked about to day, there's no reason we shouldn't have that same excitement and appreciation to compete with our teammates in March", said coach App.

The Botanical Gardens of Lloret de Mar oversee the beautiful blue-green waters of the Mediterranean while also offering an impressive array of local greenery and flowers. The charming pebbled walkways lined by trimmed shrubbery eventually gave way to the stunning views of the ocean and cliffs on the shoreline. The winding paths enclosed beautiful gardens carefully positioned so as not to detract from the remarkable views.

The military castle of Hostalric, though roughly 40 minutes inland, also produced brilliant mountain and valley views that gave perspective on the rustic village below. The castle dates back to the twelfth century and was constructed on top of a hill that looms over town. Playing host for many medieval battles, the castle had to be reconstructed in the 18th century and was completed around 1795.

With the day coming to a close, game day approaches, and excitement builds. Finally we will be able to play together against an opponent other than ourselves. coach App spoke about what tomorrow is about, "I think the team is all looking forward to putting on a Williams jersey tomorrow and competing against an outside opponent. For this team to take the next step, it needs to embrace and enjoy every chance it can to compete together. Tomorrow is our first opportunity. "

Who will win? Will we be able to find the gymnasium? Who will be called for the most travels? Only time will tell.
