WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Fourth seeded Williams (19-5, 6-4 NESCAC) is hosting fifth seeded Trinity (17-7, 6-4 NESCAC) in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM in Chandler Gymnasium.
The Ephs, the defending NESCAC Champions, have been in the NESCAC Tournament every year and have won five titles. Williams is hosting a quarterfinal for the second year in a row, but is the fourth seed for the first time in program history.
Trinity finished the regular season winning eight of its last 10 games to position itself in the NESCAC Tournament. The Bantams are the fifth seed for the second time in three years and won their lone NESCAC title in 2008.
In the regular season matchup Williams posted an 86-50 victory over Trinity on January 25, and the Ephs are 3-0 against the Bantams in the NESCAC postseason, including last year's quarterfinal meeting.
Back on January 25 in a game played in Chandler Gymnasium the Ephs opened up a 48-24 lead at the half scoring inside and connecting on 7 of 16 three-point attempts.
The Eph defense held the Bantams to just 31% shooting from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
Thirty six of the Ephs' 86 points in January came from the foul line where they connected on 76% of their charity tosses.
Donald Jordan led the Bantams in points (12) and rebounds (6). Four Eph starters cracked double figures with senior guard Bobby Casey leading with 20 points. The Ephs' Kyle Scadlock was the top rebounder in the game with seven and he tallied 14 points.
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the NESCAC Semifinals to be played next Saturday at the highest remaining seeded team.
