In February of 2018, Graham Marks joined Marc Mandel’s coaching staff. Marks came to Williams from the Forman School, in Litchfield, Connecticut, where he taught History and served as the head coach of the rowing program.
Prior to Forman, Marks served as an assistant coach at the Gunston School in Centreville, Maryland, where his crews won multiple medals at the Maryland State Championship and he coached the Varsity Girls 4+ that earned a bid to the 2016 SRAA National Championships. Marks has also coached at the Nichols School and West Side Rowing Club, both in Buffalo, New York; as well as at Crescent Boat Club on Philadelphia's famous Boathouse Row.
As an oarsman, Marks began his career as a freshman at Nichols School, where he was a four-year varsity letter winner. Upon graduation, he attended Boston University, where he earned a B.A. in English and was a four-year member of the men’s rowing team. While at BU, Marks twice finished second at the Eastern Sprints Regatta, in the 2013 Varsity 4+ race and in the 2014 4th Varsity 8.
Marks also had a successful career as a member of the Vesper Boat Club U23 lightweight team in the summers of 2013 and 2014, winning multiple national titles at the USRowing Club Nationals, highlighted by wins in the 2014 regatta in the intermediate lightweight 1x, and 4x, as well as, in the senior lightweight 4+ and 8+.
In the fall of 2014, Marks was invited to train full-time as a member of the Vesper High Performance Team, with the goal of making the U. S. National Team.
