Williams Claims Victory at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, NY- The Williams College men's golf team took home their second team victory of the season at the Saratoga Invitational, setting a new school scoring record in relation to par with a total of 577 (+1) over the two days. The event was played at the par-72 Saratoga National Golf Club, which played under slightly tougher conditions than Saturday with increased winds and at times threatening skies. Williams topped second place RPI by 17 shots to claim the trophy.

Williams was led by three even par rounds of 72 from sophomores Sam Goldenring and Ben Beiers, and senior Grant Raffel. The scoring was rounded out by junior captain Jake Foehl, who carded a 74.

Sophomore Will Kannegieser backed up a 71 on Saturday with a 77 today.

Four of the Ephs finished in the top ten: Kannegieser (T-8), Beiers (T-5), Goldenring (4th), and Raffel (T-2). Foehl finished in a tie for fifteenth.

Williams will wrap up their season with a one day event on Tuesday at Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester, VT.
