Bloomfield, NJ- The Williams College men's golf team wrapped up play at this year's NYU Invitational in poor fashion. The team could not shake off the rust that had built up during a week's worth of indoor practices following their return from spring break.
The event was played at the par-71 Forest Hills Field Club, which played in spring conditions typified by the aerated greens the players were forced to contend with. NYU made use of their home course advantage, capturing the team title with a second round score of 305. Their total score of 603 beat out RPI by six shots and Trinity College by 16 shots.
Sophomore Sam Goldenring was again the only Williams player to break 80 on the day, firing a 79 during his second round. Junior Jake Foehl and Sophomore Will Kannegieser each carded rounds of 82, and first-year Beau David finished his round in 83 shots.
The team will have plenty of time to work on their games before the next time they tee it up in competition, two weeks from now in their home tournament.
