Williamstown, MA- The Williams College men's golf team finished third in their home event over the weekend, shooting an overall team score of 621. That score was beat out by the team champion, Trinity College, who posted a team score of 296 on Sunday to win the event with an overall score of 598. Middlebury College was the owner of the second best score on Sunday at 300, putting their weekend total at 607.
The Panther's Jeff Giguere took home the individual crown with a steady weekend of golf, shooting scores of 74 and 75. Trinity's Will Rosenfield and Hamilton's Joe Tigani finished in a tie for second one stroke behind.
The Ephs struggled to put together a solid team score, but their lineup did feature a fine individual performance from first-year Beau David on Sunday. David battled gusting winds and spring-condition greens on his way to shooting a second round 75. Junior Jake Foehl and Sophomore Sam Goldenring both came in with 79, while sophomore Will Kannegieser went around the golf course in 81 shots.
The second lowest round for the Ephs on Sunday came from one of their individuals, first-year Wyatt Khosrowshahi, who fired a 78.
Williams has one more week to iron out any kinks in their game before next weekend's NESCAC Championship which will be played at Indian Hill Golf Club, the home course of Trinity College. Williams will also play a mid-week event, the Little Three Championship, at TPC River Highlands on Wednesday.
