WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Rich Scott NENY Vice President of the Northeastern New York PGA noted, "On behalf of the Northeastern New York Section of The PGA of America and the Special Awards Committee Members, we extend our congratulations to Taconic Golf Pro Josh Hillman on being named the 2019 NENY PGA Section Golf Professional of the Year.
"Your contributions to the Professional Golfers' Association and specifically your service to the members of the NENY PGA and your own facility have been outstanding. You are a credit to the Northeastern New York PGA Section and to your own organization by serving as an example to your peers."
In May of 2019 Josh Hillman's top Eph player Sam Goldenring '20 became the first Eph men's golfer to win the NCAA DIII Individual title by shooting 3-under par over four rounds (285) at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
During the fall of 2019 Hillman guided his Eph men's golf team to the NESCAC Qualifier title and into the host position for the 2020 NESCAC Championship Tournament that would determine the winner of the NESCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Championship. However, both the NESCAC Championship and the NCAA DIII Championship to be played in Florida in May were cancelled due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
"Being named Golf Professional of the Year is the highest honor we have as Golf Professionals and it is truly an honor to earn this year's award.," stated Hillman. "Serving both Williams College and Taconic Golf Club for the past eight years is something I don't take lightly. It truly is a honor and privilege to be around so many quality people.
"To be real honest, I simply love the game of golf. It teaches you so many life lessons and provides so many great experiences. Experiences that bring people closer together.
Hillman will be honored at the NENY PGA Awards Banquet on the evening of Thursday, November 5 at The Landings Hotel in The Rivers Casino in Schenectady, N.Y.
