WILLIAMASTOWN, MA – Bill Kangas's Williams College men's ice hockey team (11-3-2/7-2-1 NESCAC) remains ranked in both national top 15 polls.
The USCHO.com poll finds the Ephs still ranked 11th as they were the previous week, while the D3Hockey.com poll has the Ephs still in 14th place.
In the USCHO.com poll the Ephs are one of six teams from New England ranked as is also the case in the case in the D3Hockey.com poll.
The top ranked team in the USCHO.com poll is Norwich, but in the D3Hokcey.com poll St. Norbert is ranked first and Norwich second.
New England teams ahead of the Ephs in the USCHO.com poll are Norwich (1), Trinity (3), Babson (7), and UMass-Boston (9), Amherst is ranked 13th.
D3Hockey.com has five teams listed ahead of the Ephs with Norwich (2), Trinity (3), Babson (7), UMass-Boston (10), and Amherst (12).
The Ephs have gone 7-1-1 in their last nine games and possess a three-game win streak. Williams is third among NESCAC teams in goals per game (3.56), while they are second in goals allowed per game (2.19).
Four Eph players have recorded double digits in points through the first 10 conference contests. Senior forward Craig Kitto has netted five goals and assisted on six for 11 points. Freshmen forwards CJ Shugart and David Italiano and sophomore forward Tyler Young all have 10 points thus far. Shugart's 10 points have come from five goals and five assists. Italiano has four goals and six assists and Tyler Young has netted one goal and assisted on nine.
Eph senior goalie Sean Dougherty is second in NESCAC in goals allowed (1.88) in 534 minutes in goal. Dougherty's .921 save percentage is third best in the conference.
The Ephs will be on the road this weekend playing at Connecticut College on Fri. at 7:00 and then at Tufts on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
