WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Sporting an overall record of 11-4-1 and a NESCAC record of 7-2-1 the Williams College men's ice hockey team remains ranked nationally in both the USCHO.com and d3hockey.com polls.
The Ephs split their two-game trip to Maine this past weekend, falling at Bowdoin 1-0 and then defeating Colby 3-1.
Williams is currently in second place in NESCAC behind Trinity, which is the only other NESCAC team ranked in both national polls. On January 9 the Ephs defeated Trinity 3-2 in a game played in the Ephs' Lansing Chapman Rink.
Williams will travel to Hartford, CT on February 5 to play at Trinity, but before that the Ephs will host Tufts this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and then host Connecticut College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
Williams slid back one spot in the USCHO.com poll from 9th a week ago to 10th this week. The Ephs are currently ranked 11th in the d3hockey.com poll after climbing to eighth a week ago.
The Ephs average 2.1 goals a game in NESCAC play, fifth best in the conference. Through 10 conference contests the Ephs have allowed just 10 goals, averaging a conference best one goal against in all 10 games.
Williams has scored on six of 31 power play opportunities for a success rate of 19.4%, which is tops in NESCAC. The Ephs have fashioned a 93.5% rate of success in killing off 29 of 31 penalties, second best in NESCAC. With a special teams net of +5 the Ephs are the NESCAC leaders in the combined statistics of killing off penalties and scoring on power plays.
