WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Mike Monti's Williams College men's ice hockey team (13-10-1/9-8-1 NESCAC) has been seeded seventh in the NESCAC Tournament.
The Ephs will travel to New London, Conn., on Saturday to face second seed Connecticut College at 4:30 PM.
This season the Ephs and Camels split their two NESCAC encounters with both teams claiming wins on home ice.
Williams defeated Conn at home on Dec. 2 by the score of 7-2. Six different Ephs scored in that contest and David Italiano notched two goals. Junior goalie Michael Pinios turned aside 25 of 27 shots by Conn in 56+ minutes in the net.
At Conn on Jan. 27 te Camels downed the Ephs 3-2. Conn scored twice in the final 13 minutes to overtake the Ephs. Again, David Italiano scored twice for the Ephs. Eph senior goalie Stephen Morrissey stopped 15 of 18 Conn shots.
Conn is seeded second in the NESCAC Tournament for the first time in program history. Since Feb. 2 the Camels are 2-1-3, while the Ephs are 3-2-1 over the same time span and 3-0-1 in their last four games.
The Ephs boast the most successful power play in NESCAC this season, having tallied 19 goals with the man advantage.
A win by the Ephs would put them into the conference semifinals for the seventh time in the last nine years.
