HADLEY, MA – Williams College senior forward Marcus Mollica (Dove Canyon, Calif.) has been named the NESCAC Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week for the first weekend of play.
Mollica had a weekend to remember in Maine notching the game-winning goal in both NESCAC wins. Williams defeated Bowdoin and Colby and Mollica amassed six points on five goals and one assist
Friday night in the season opener at Bowdoin Mollica recorded a hat rick, which included a short-handed goal as the Ephs downed the Polar Bears 4-1.
The next afternoon at Colby it was a power play goal at 11:05 of the third period by Mollica that proved to be the eventual game-winner in the Ephs' 4-3 come from behind win.
The Ephs trailed 3-2 after two periods, but goals by Roberto Cellini and Mollica in the final period cemented the comeback.
"Marcus has been an outstanding role model, teammate, and player," noted Eph head coach Bill Kangas. His attention to the details of his game and our team process has been exceptional. The chemistry between his senior line-mates, Roberto Cellini, and Max Fuld has been outstanding as witnessed by their strong weekend performance in Maine. With the majority of our team being underclassmen, Marcus and his senior classmates have been exemplary leaders.
