Brunswick, ME – The Williams College Ephs (8-6/6-3 NESCAC) defeated the Bowdoin College Polar Bears (8-5/4-5 NESCAC) 11-8 in today's match-up at Howard F. Ryan Field on the campus of Bowdoin College.

With 6:40 to go in the first quarter, Kevin Stump scored for the Ephs that would lead to not one, but two three-goal scoring streaks in today's game, which would lead to a huge Eph win today as their regular season schedule is coming to a close.
The Williams College Ephs took control of the first quarter early on, winning the opening face-off and maintaining possession. That translated into the first Eph goal of the day netted by Kevin Stump at 12:02. Nearly three minutes later, the Polar Bears countered back, tying up the score 1-1 with a goal by Matthew Crowell. Williams soon answered back with three straight goals, two more scores by Kevin Stump and one from senior Jared Strauss. With one second left in the first quarter, Brett Kujala assisted by Henry Savage scored for Bowdoin, putting Williams up 4-2.
Bowdoin continued this momentum and at 12:23 found a goal by Jimmy Young assisted by Brett Kujala to allow the Polar Bears to be down by aone-goal. For the remainder of the quarter, the Williams offense took control of the ball and had two unanswered goals, both by sophomore attackman Kevin Stump to put the Ephs up 6-3 going into halftime.
Coming out at halftime, Williams netted a goal early on at 14:05 by sophomore LSM Rock Stewart. Two minutes later, the Polar Bears countered back after a score by Brett Kujala, assisted by Jimmy Young. Soon, Williams freshman Cory Lund netted back-to-back goals to give the Ephs a 9-4 lead. Less than one minute later, Bowdoin's Reed Baker scored for the Polar Bears off of a quick feed by Zach Chandler. With 2:30 left to go in the third quarter, sophomore John Hincks netted a goal to re-establish the Ephs' five-score lead: Williams 10 – Bowdoin 5.
The Polar Bears began to make a comeback during the first few minutes of the fourth quarter, scoring two unanswered goals by Sam Carlin and Bret Kujala assisted by Sam Langan. After great defense displayed by both teams, Kevin Stump broke the lull with a score during the last 45 seconds to bring the score to 11-7, Williams. In the final 17 seconds, Jeff Powers assisted by James Strabley netted the final score of the game for Bowdoin: Williams 11 – Bowdoin 8.
The Ephs used one goalie today, George Peele, who finished with 12 saves in 60 minutes of play. The Polar Bears also used one goalie this afternoon as well and John Young made 16 saves in 60 minutes in the net.
The Polar Bears were led by Brett Kujala with three scores and one assist, followed by Jimmy Young with one goal and one assist.
Eph head coach George McCormack stated, "Very good win on the road. Bowdoin is always a tough team and we feel fortunate to be on the winning side today coming into our final regular season game."
The Ephs return to action this coming Wednesday when they will play away in a NESCAC match-up at Middlebury College, taking on the Panthers at 5pm. The Bowdoin College Polar Bears will next play away in a NESCAC match-up against Tufts, taking on the Jumbos on Wednesday at 7pm.
