WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Two sophomore standouts on the Williams College men's lacrosse team, Brendan Hoffman and Rock Stewart, have been named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Third Team.
Hoffman a midfielder and Stewart a long stick middie were key players for the Eph team that went 9-8 on the year and advanced to the semifinals of the NESCAC Tournament.
Williams head coach George McCormack notes, "Rock and Brendan are two sophomores who have been contributing quite a bit since arriving at Williams. They are both deserving of recognition and we are we are excited to have them back for a couple more years.
This year Hoffman and Stewart both played in all 17 contests. Hoffman fired in 27 goals (tied for fourth on the team) and he assisted on four goals for a total of 31 points (toed for fifth best on the team). He picked up 14 ground balls and caused five turnovers.
Stewart led the Ephs in caused turnovers with 16 and was second on the squad in ground balls with 52. He scored two goals and assisted on two more.
In his first two seasons in the Purple Valley Hoffman has tallied 46 goals in 33 games, registered nine assists, and has collected 22 ground balls.
Stewart has also played in 33 games in his career. He has picked up 106 ground balls, scored four goals, and assisted on three.
